The attractions of Central Asakusa include the Kaminarimon Gate, Sensoji Temple, Asakusa Jinja Shrine and the Asakusa Hanayashiki amusement park. The Nakamise and Denboin shopping streets are great locations for picking up traditional souvenirs while for a more modern shopping experience the Asakusa Rox shopping complex includes fashion boutiques, big name stores and a 24-hour supermarket.

Central Asakusa is also famous for its food, with several historic restaurants and bars offering a great range of fine dining opportunities, as well as the cheap and cheerful izakaya-style casual taverns of Hoppy Street.

The Tobu, Toei, and Tokyo Metro Asakusa stations are all located to the east of Central Asakusa on the other side of Umamichi-dori. TX Asakusa Station is located on the west side of this district, on Kokusai-dori Avenue. The Kaminarimon district is named after the famous Kaminarimon Gate

This area is a good choice for tourists visiting Asakusa, because it is close enough to the main attractions of Central Asakusa and it is also convenient for the Tobu, Toei and Tokyo Metro Asakusa Stations.

Also in this district is a famous restaurant called Asakusa Mugitoro Honten. This restaurant serves a super-nutritious specialty dish called “mugitoro gohan” — rice cooked with barley grains and topped with a grated yam sauce.

There is also one higher end hotel, Richmond Hotel Premier Tokyo Schole which is right beside Oshiage Station. Staying in Oshiage would give you easy access not only to Tokyo Skytree, but also to the shopping, dining and entertainment facilities of the Tokyo Solamachi commercial complex.

There are two more districts located between Tokyo Skytree and Asakusa: Azumabashi and Mukojima. These districts are actually walkable from Asakusa as they are located just across the Sumida River and both districts have a large number of reasonably-priced medium range hotels and some budget accommodation too.

Azumabashi can be reached easily from Asakusa by crossing the Azuma-bashi Bridge and is convenient for the dining facilities of the Asahi Beer Tower and Asahi Beer Hall. Mukojima is quite a large district located just above Azumabashi. The eastern part of Sumida Park is located in Mukojima and there are also some sites of cultural and historical interest to be explored here, which include Ushijima Jinja Shrine, Sumida Heritage Museum, Mimeguri Jinja Shrine and Kofukuji Temple.

Tokyo Skytree is served by two railway stations: Tokyo Skytree Station on the Tobu Skytree Line and Oshiage Station on the Toei Asakusa Subway Line.
