Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu

Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu is an 80-year-old Japanese inn with traditional wooden architecture and comfortable, modern facilities. The hotel is in a very central location with easy access to all the local railway stations and sightseeing attractions. This hotel is ideal for a taste of traditional Japanese service and hospitality.

Guest Rooms

Ryokan Asakusa Shigetsu has six floors with elegant Western and Japanese style rooms. All guest rooms have air conditioning, heating, a television, a refrigerator, a hair dryer, a light cotton yukata robe, a safe for your valuables, and an electric kettle.

Standard Rooms are Japanese style with tatami floors and futons. These rooms are suitable for couples or solo travelers.
Suites are Japanese style and have tatami floors and futons. These rooms can be used by up to 4 guests.

Single Rooms have Western-style beds and are ideal for solo travelers.

On the top floor is a two-room Deluxe Suite Room with a wonderful view of the Asakusa skyline. This is a Japanese style suite with tatami floors, futons, and traditional décor.

All guest rooms have private bathrooms. Bathrooms are supplied with toothbrushes, hand towels, bath towels, shaving razors, shampoo and conditioner. Guest rooms are cleaned every day between 10.30 and 15.30.

Breakfast & Dining

Breakfast is served in the first-floor dining hall. Guests can choose between a Japanese set breakfast and a Western set breakfast. The Japanese breakfast includes steamed rice, egg dishes, kamaboko (processed and seasoned fish), grilled fish, soup, green tea and a variety of nutritious side dishes. The Western breakfast has salad, bread, ham, omelette, fruit, juice and coffee. Breakfast costs between 1,080 and 1,300 yen and should be reserved in advance.

For other meals there are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood where you can find tempura, ramen noodles, okonomiyaki pancakes, and braised eel on rice. The staff at the hotel will be happy to recommend the best local eateries.

Other Services & Facilities

Reception is open from 7.00 to 23.00. Check-in is between 15.00 and 22.30, and check-out is by 10.00. Luggage can be stored at the front desk for guests who arrive before 15.00.

Staff at reception speak English and can offer recommendations for things to see and do around Asakusa and other areas of Tokyo.

There is a traditional shared bathroom (separated by gender) on the 6th floor which has bathtubs made of fragrant hinoki cypress wood. The bath has a glorious view of Sensoji’s five-story pagoda and Tokyo Skytree and is a great spot to relax in after a hard day’s sightseeing. The shared bathroom is open from 16.00 -23.00 and from 7.00 – 9.00.

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the building.

This hotel has direct access to the Nakamise shopping street and is a 2 minute walk from the Kaminarimon Gate of Sensoji Temple. The Tobu, Toei and Tokyo Metro Asakusa stations are 6 minutes away, and TX Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express Line is also 6 minutes away.
