Bunka Hostel Tokyo Asakusa

Bunka Hostel is a bright, clean, and friendly hostel offering budget accommodation in the heart of Asakusa. This hostel opened in December 2015 in an area surrounded by restaurants, cafes and shopping malls and is convenient for local transportation and all of Asakusa’s top attractions. The hostel’s clean, high quality, and modern facilities provide exceptionally good value for such low cost rates.

Guest Rooms & Dormitories

Bunka Hostel has one private family room and a mixture of dormitory types. For backpackers and single travelers there are mixed dormitories with bunk beds, a mixed dormitory with single beds, and a female dormitory room with bunk beds.

For small groups or families the private family room has bunk beds and a sofa bed and can hold up to 4 people. The private family room also has a private shower, washroom, toilet, and desk. All beds in Bunka Hostel come with a reading light, an electrical outlet, a privacy curtain, a secure locker for your property, and a clothes hanger. All the shared shower and toilet facilities are very clean.

Dining In & Out

There is a “Common Dining” area with a kitchen on the top floor which has a refrigerator, sink, microwave oven, toaster, electric kettle, some crockery, and basic utensils. On the ground floor is a cheap and cheerful restaurant and bar called, Izakaya Bunka. Here customers can enjoy delicious savory hot pots, ramen noodles, beef sukiyaki, sashimi, deep fried chicken, tofu nuggets, plum wine, draft beer, and the very best Japanese sake. A cheap basic breakfast can also be bought here in the morning.

There are plenty of cheap eateries and grocery stores in the area around the hostel. Hostel staff will be happy to recommend the best local restaurants and bento lunch box shops. Just 2 minutes’ walk from the hostel is a Family Mart convenience store where you can buy cheap snacks, drinks, sandwiches, rice balls, and pot noodles.

Other Services and Facilities

Bunka Hostel has 24 hour service at the front desk with helpful multilingual staff. Guests can store their baggage at reception before checking in and after checking out.

The common areas, dormitories, and private rooms in the hostel are all no-smoking. However, there is a smoking space on the 2nd floor.

The hostel has a laundry area with coin-operated washing machines and dryers.

Some unique Bunka Hostel brand fabrics, amenities, sake, and other souvenirs are on sale in the first floor shop. The hostel sometimes organizes events, parties, and outings for its guests.

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout the building.

This hostel has no curfew.

Bunka Hostel is located in central Asakusa and is 4 minute walk from the Kaminarimon Gate of Sensoji Temple. The hostel is located on Sushiya Street which is famous for its many sushi bars, and the Asakusa Rox shopping complex is just 2 minutes away on foot. The hostel is 9 minutes away from Tobu Asakusa Station and the Toei and Tokyo Metro Asakusa subway stations, and 4 minutes from TX Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express Line.
